Sunday, July 27th is Aadi Krithika and is very sacred for the Planetary Overlord of Mars, Muruga. The Krithika star falling during the Tamil month of Aadi or Kataka is a very powerful day for Lord Muruga as the Sun is in Cancer and the Moon is aligned with the star Krithika in the Plaedian constellation (Aries-Taurus).
Lord Muruga, whose name literally means the beautiful one, represents beauty and perfection. He has the 'Six battle houses' called the Aru Padai Veedu. Considered to be the perfect version of Lord Siva, Muruga is one of the most powerful gods of our times. Spiritually, the six houses represent six chakras. Praying to Muruga on this day will eliminate negative forces, and blesses real estate ventures, medicinal or engineering professions, competitiveness and self esteem.
Muruga is Lord of Yoga, creating yoga in the age just prior to the current yuga and the keeper of the mystical keys to the awakening of the kundalini and its ascension through the chakras. There are six sacred temples for Lord Muruga in Tamilnadu, South India. With the exception of one temple on the seashore, all other temples are situated on hills.
