What is The Rising Sun in Astrology

In a natal chart (In astrology, a natal chart is a stylized map of the universe with the "native" (the individual or subject to be studied) at the centre  It is calculated for the exact time and location of the native's birth for the purposes of gaining insight into the native's personality and potential. Commonly used alternative names for the natal chart include birth chart, horoscope)
The chart shows the positions of the sun, moon, planets, and potentially other celestial objects, all referred to as the native's "planets," within the frames of references defined by the astrological signs and houses.

There are three most important parts of your personality which are represented by your Moon (your emotional self), Sun (your inner self), and rising (your outer self).

Sun Signs reveal much regarding our essential personality, particularly our inner self. It reveals the part of our personality that is our basic self, or who we are when we are not surrounded by other people. In other words our essential personality is our most basic, broad, inner traits. Remember that your Sun Sign is just a portion of who you are.

Moon Signs help define our emotional development, or express the unconscious side of our personality. It explains why we do what we do. This is where we retreat for comfort, childhood memories, and peace. This can also be the place where anger, hate, jealousy and fear may be found.

Your Rising Sign, otherwise known as an Ascendant, is the Zodiac Sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the moment you were born. It can be abbreviated on a birth chart as ASC or AS. When you know the time you were born, your Ascendant Sign can be calculated to the exact degree.
It is believed that if the Ascendant falls closer to the beginning of the Sign, the stronger the effects will be felt in the individual. This is also held to be true if the Sun is in a weak position in the birth chart (such as if the individual was born at night). It’s also thought to be weaker when the individual is born towards the end of the Sign's Ascendancy, just before the next Sign appears.
The Rising sign is known as the mask of the persona, and the first impression we make on those we meet. It could be said that the qualities of the sign that was rising on the eastern horizon imprints on the outer self as we emerge into the world. After that, each time we encounter a new situation or person, this is the "face" we reveal.

In Brief:-
Rising sign is your outer image how you appear at first to other people.
Sun sign is your true self who you truly are.
Moon sign is your emotions.

Your Rising Sign is the sign that’s on the cusp (beginning) of your first house. The first house cusp is the exact placement in the zodiac where the horizon was when you were born, essentially the sign rising in the sky, which is why it’s referred to as your rising sign.
The first house is the house of the self, ruling you, and the sign on the cusp and planets in the house show how you come across.
Your Rising sun can be determined when the time of your birth is known, an exact calculation by degrees can be made. Several astrology sites offer birth charts which will always include the rising sign.
