June month & Goddess Sarawasti

June is a time when stress levels go up at home. This is a time when children irrespective of their grades make a transition, from a vacation mood to one of pursuit of educational excellence.
Your child could be very bright and an outstanding performer. Yet at the time of final exams they experience fear syndrome and often this results in lower grades at school. Some get sick because of the fear. This is the time when not only the children are under the stress, but as parents you too undergo equal amount of stress. Especially when your children are easy going by nature, you undergo the tension and have a dilemma about the success of your child. Overcome this strain and anxiety by offering prayers to Goddess Saraswati and she will guide you right from the beginning of the academic year.
Lord Siva in the yogic form is called Dhakshinamoorthy. Lord Dhakshinamoorthy bestows wisdom. Many Students visit a Dhakshinamoorthy temple and light two ghee lamps and offer special kind of jasmine flowers or yellow flowers to the Lord in order to ward off the ill-effects of Guru, especially on Thursdays. Lord Dhakshinamoorthy is otherwise known as Guru. Worshipping of Lord Guru cures ailments affecting the stomach and helps one to ward off his/her sins, helps him/her in gaining strength, valour and longevity, etc. He grants the boon of education.
Saraswati is the consort of Lord Brahma and is the Goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge. She is the personification of knowledge - arts, science, crafts. She represents Shakti, creativity and inspiration. Saraswati is sometimes described to have four hands. Two hands holding and playing Veena, one holding aksamala (rosary which signifies concentration, meditation, and contemplation) and fourth hand has a Pushtaka (book -- a symbol of true knowledge). Her four hands represent four aspects of human personality in learning: mind, intellect, alertness and ego. Goddess Sarawasti is an embodiment of grace. She has a white complextion, wears the Crescent on her brow, rides on a swan or a peacock or is seated on a lotus flower. The Padmapurana describes Goddess Saraswati being seated on a white Lotus clad in a spotless white apparel - (She is the epitome of pure knowledge) with a necklace of white beads, decked with white flowers and holding the Veena.
