Did You know - The Moon Affects The Body

The ocean waves are a result of the moon’s influence, and astrologers believe that the moon influences the body’s “waves” in much the same way. The body, much like the ocean, is made mostly of water. When you hear someone say they’re acting funny because it’s a full moon, there might actually be some science behind it.
There is even documented proof that more assaults occur around a full moon, giving strong support to the theory the moon affects human behavior.
The frequencies emanating from the Moon affect the frequencies of the mental body, i.e. mind of human beings. By ‘mind’ we mean our feelings, emotions and desires. The mind consists of the conscious mind and the sub-conscious mind. Within the sub-conscious mind we have a number of impressions that are embedded that decide our basic nature and personality.

When the moon is full or new, the gravitational pull of the moon and sun are combined. The moon exerts a pull on the Earth on other days too, but it is not as powerful as on the days of full moon and new moon.
Suppose we were to take in a deep breath, the air sucked into our mouth is three times as much as a normal breath. Now let’s translate this analogy to the Moon and its pull on the Earth. During full moon and new moon days the whole Moon is pulling Earth and the effect is as if in the earlier analogy the Moon is taking a deep breath. We find that the circular atmosphere of three times the size of the moon is attracted from the Earth.

In this process at a physical level when water is attracted towards moon, rather than the water, the gaseous elements in water (water vapour) come above water and enter the subtle high-pressure belt. Since negative energies are predominantly in gaseous form they get pulled into the subtle high-pressure belt. Here they group together and get added strength in numbers from each other. They therefore attack humanity to a larger extent on these days.

Vivah Panchami 2016 - December 04 Sunday.

Vivah Panchami is a popular Hindu festival that commemorates the weddings of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. It is celebrated on the ‘Panchami’ (5th day) of the Shukla Paksha (the waxing phase of moon) during the month of ‘Margashirsha’ in the Hindu calendar. This day is considered to be very auspicious as it marks the ceremonial marriage anniversary of Rama and Sita. Just like any Hindu wedding, the celebrations and festivals begin several days in advance
The celebrations of Vivah Panchami are very notable in Lord Rama temples in different parts of India, particularly in Mithilanchal region and some parts of North India. The day also holds immense significance at Janakpur, in Nepal as it was believed that the ceremony was held here itself. Thousands of pilgrims from Indian and other parts of the world come to witness this grand celebration.
Celebrations of Vivah Panchami:
The day of Vivah Panchami is celebrated with great fervour in Ayodhya, the birth place of Shri Ram. On this auspicious day all the temples are brightly lit with lamps. The celebrations involve the enactment of this divine wedding ceremony. During the day a grand procession leaves from one temple to another and ends with the magnificent wedding ceremony in the evening. The idols of Lord Rama and Goddess Sati are magnificently adorned with clothes and jewelry to make them look like bridegroom and bride respectively. The entire event is popularly known as ‘Ram Vivah Utsav’. All through the day devotional songs in praise of Lord Rama are sung by devotees. Besides the festivities at the temples, several stage shows and cultural programmes are also organized on this occasion. Ramleela, a stage performance that depicts the life of Lord Rama and Devi Sita is also observed in many regions. People from different parts of the country come here to participate in the celebrations.
At Janakpur particularly the celebrations are observed with great fanfare. Special rituals and pujas are held across temples including the renowned ‘Dashrath’, ‘Ram’ and ‘Janki’ temples. Here the celebrations continue for a period of 7 days and devotees observe all the rituals with immense zeal and dedication. Thousands of devotees visit these temples to seek the divine blessings for leading a happy family life. As a part of the rituals, devotees on the day of Vivah Panchami take a holy bath in renowned lakes of Mithilanchal like ‘Dhanushsagar’, ‘Gangasagar’ and ‘Argaza Pond’.
Significance of Vivah Panchami:
In the Ramayana and other Hindu scriptures, the day of Vivah Panchami is considered to be very significant and sacred. It is stated that Shri Ram, the eldest son of King Dashrath of Ayodhya is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. On the Panchami of the Hindu month of ‘Margashira’, Lord Rama visited Janakpur, the birth place of Goddess Sita. He broke the ‘dhanush’ (bow) of Lord Shiva in the Swayamvara and was married to Princess Sita. In order to immortalize this divine wedding ceremony, devotees have then been celebrating the wedding of Lord Rama and Devi Sita on Vivah Panchami every year.
The observance of Vivah Panchami also highlights the friendly relations and bonding between India and Nepal that has been cherished for centuries. Janakpur is a very spiritual and historical city of Nepal and thousands of Indians visit this birth place of Goddess Sita every year to observe the festival of Vivah Panchami.

Diwali and Lakshmi Puja 2016

Diwali and Lakshmi Puja is observed on October 30.
Amavasya is the no moon day in a month in a traditional Hindu lunar calendar. Amavasya October 2016 date and time is October 30.
Diwali lamps signify the removal of spiritual darkness and the ushering in of knowledge capable of realizing Brahman (That) – the Supreme Being present in all animate and inanimate.
There are several reasons for celebrating Diwali. The most important one is the commemoration of the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile.
Lakshmi Puja during Diwali is observed as it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi emerged from the ocean on this day during the ‘samudra manthan’ (churning of ocean) by demons and gods as mentioned in the Puranas. So for the business people, the new business year begins on Diwali.

Dhanteras is celebrated two days before Diwali honors Dhanvantari, the physician of the gods. He is believed to have emerged from the ocean on this day during samudra manthan.

The Amavasya Time begins at 7:51 PM on October 29 and ends at 9:33 PM on October 30. The Amavasya Snan, dhan, Shradh and Tarpan are performed on October 30.
Amavasya is the darkest day in a traditional Hindu month and is considered both auspicious and inauspicious by different Hindu communities.
There are many Hindus who undertake a fast on Amavasi. Some devotees only take a single meal on the day.

Kartik month ends in traditional calendars followed in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on October 30.

All about Saturn - The Lord of Karma

Out of all the 9 planets, Saturn is the only planet honored with “Ishwar” status (name of Lord Shiva). According to Vedas, there is no other planet that can take away what the Great Saturn decides to give to you. You have multi-lifetimes of both good and bad deeds that are due to come to fruition in the future.
Karma is a form of energy that is very real. Like Saturn, it is very closely bound to time. Past, present, and future blur into one. If you have been bad in the past, then at a certain predestined time, an event will occur to teach you a lesson. If you been good in the past, then at a predestined time, an event will occur to reward you for your good deeds.

Saturn is the most powerful of all planets and He is matchless in giving good and bad fortunes. The bad fortunes may be in terms of hardships in material life – like loss of job, business, money, health problems etc. and the good fortune categories can be the opposite of all mentioned above. However, the bad fortune, which is created by Saturn is enlightening, giving the individual a valuable perspective on life; the pain that he brings with the changes is formidable and can be dealt with and lessened.

Becoming conscious of Lord Hanuman and his characteristics can help you deal with difficult times. Since Hanuman is influential over Saturn, he can relieve your troubles and make the impossible happen.

Mythologically, Saturn is the son of Sun and Chhaya. Saturn is a planet, which has been much, wronged and was cursed by his own wife and celestial mother Parvati. In fact after realizing her mistake Maa Parvati gave a boon to Saturn that no important event in the life of a person will occur unless Saturn gives his divine sanctity to that work either by transit or aspect to such relevant house.

He is the elder brother to Yama(the god of death) therefore he plays the role of Yama and can bring an end to life. Therefore, if a bad Dasha is running and at the same time there is an evil transit of Saturn and the age of death have come Saturn will definitely kill. But, Saturn also represents detachment. It has great spiritual value. No saint can take birth without a well-placed and strong Saturn.

It takes Saturn 28-30 years to complete its orbit of the zodiac. It is masculine energy and rules both Capricorn and Aquarius, and the Tenth and Eleventh Houses.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF EKADASI

Ekadashi, or Ekadasi Vrat, is observed on the eleventh day of a fortnight in a Hindu lunar calendar. The day is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and many devotees undertake Upvaas or fasting on the day.
Ekadasi is a Sanskrit word, which means 'the eleventh'. It refers to the eleventh day of a fortnight belonging to a lunar month. There are two fortnights in a lunar month—the bright and the dark. So, Ekadasi occurs twice in a month, in the bright fortnight and the dark fortnight.
The Ekadasi observance is an astrological phenomenon and it is observed due to this relation we have with some of the planets in the system. The entire personality of ours is tremendously influenced by the movement of planets. There is no use imagining that the planets are above our heads. They are everywhere. There is a relative movement of planets among which the earth is one. The movement of one thing in relation to another is a relative movement. There is no planet which is static. Even the sun is not ultimately static. The whole solar system is moving and rushing towards some huge star, which is eighty million times larger and brighter than the sun, whose light has not yet reached us, as astronomers tell us. Each planet tells upon our system and we cannot get rid of the influence of theirs as long as we are in this planet, of which we are a part. The gravitational pull of planets has an influence on us.
In the Rig-veda, the sun is identified with the soul of the universe as well as the soul of the individual. The different limbs of our body and different parts of our system are supposed to be influenced by different planets. The sun is capable of influencing the entire being.
Ekadasi is particularly relevant to this relation of moon and mind. You will find that, when you go deep into the study of astronomy, you have nothing in your body except some planetary influences! We are made up of planetary forces and there is nothing independent to call our own. One part belongs to one planet and another part to another planet. If each planet claims its part, you will disintegrate. The moon influences the mind in its orbital relative movement with reference to other planets and us.
How, is Ekadasi related to the movement of moon and mind? We have certain centres called Chakras in the body. The Chakras are nothing but energy-centres which whirl in some direction as water whirls in a river. Chakra is a wheel or circular motion. They move in a spiral shape. They are not physical; but psycho-physical and psychological. These Chakras are neither in the mind nor in the body; they are in the astral body. The moon's influence physically on the body has an influence on the Chakras, which tells upon the mind ultimately. The mind moves through these Chakras. The passage of the mind is through these Chakras, up and down. When this operation takes place consciously, it is called Yoga; When done unconsciously by the mind, it is just influence. When the moon waxes or wanes, the mind is vehemently influenced. So people who are not normal in their minds become very bad on the full-moon and new-moon days. You cannot see the moon's influence on the earth because it is solid, but it can be seen on the ocean which is liquid. The moon influences the whole earth, but its influence is visible on the large body of waters in the sea. This happens due to the twofold pressure of the relation of the earth and moon. The sun influences the moon and the moon influences the earth. When the influence occurs automatically, we are instruments in the hands of Nature. When it is done consciously, we are said to practise Yoga.
Fast and meditation! What connection have they? There is really no intrinsic connection between fast and meditation, but there is some advantage in keeping the body light and the stomach free from excessive metabolic function. When the stomach is given the duty of digestion, doctors will tell you, the blood circulation is accelerated towards the digestive organs, on account of which blood circulation to the head gets decreased after food is taken and so you feel sleepy and the thinking faculty practically ceases to function.  Hence, there is no advantage in giving the physical system work on days you want to do Yogic practice.  Thus, Ekadasi has also a spiritual significance.

Rituals of Tarpan in Shraddha is a way to pay our gratitude toward the ancestors for all that they have given or giving to us. It is believed that if the rituals are performed with full faith, love, and respect, our ancestors get happy and protect us from all the evil powers of the universe. They don't let anything harm us either it is natural or supernatural.

We inherit the assets and properties of our ancestors, but at the same time we also inherit the results of their misdeeds. Sometimes, their misdeeds do not allow them to attain the peace after death. This disturbance of their souls can sometimes affect the present generations of the family. The rituals of Tarpan in Shradh helps them in attaining the peace of soul and paying of the misdeeds of their lives. Help your ancestors in gaining peace of soul by performing the Tarpan rituals in Shraadh 2016.

Puri Rath Yatra 2016 - 6th July

Puri Rath Yatra, the world famous chariot or car festival, at the Puri Jagannath Temple in Orissa. It is celebrated on the second day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon or bright fortnight) Ashadh month as per traditional Oriya Calendar. On the day of the Ratha Yatra (car festival), chariots (Rath) carrying Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra is pulled to the nearby Gundicha Temple.

The return journey of the chariots or Bahuda Jatra is on July 14, 2016.

At the world famous Puri Jagannath Temple in Orissa, Lord Krishna is worshipped as ‘Jagannath’ – ‘master of the universe.’ Balabhadra is the elder brother of Lord Krishna and Subhadra is his younger sister.
The making of the Rathas for the annual festival begins on the Akshaya Tritiya day. The main rituals associated with Puri Rath Yatra festival is spread over a month and several rituals, like Snana Purnima and Anasara, take place during this period.
The Snana Yatra or Snana Purnima (Bathing Festival) takes place on the full moon day in the month of Jyestha (May – June). On this day, the three deities are bathed in 108 pitchers of water.
After the elaborate Snana Yatra festival, the three deities stay away from public view and this is known as ‘Anasara.’ It is believed that after such elaborate ritualistic bath the deities catch fever and therefore they do not return to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
The idols of the three deities then make an appearance after 15 days of ‘anasara’ in a new appearance known as ‘Navaya Yauvana Vesha.’ The wooden idols of the deities are given a fresh coat of paint.
Next auspicious ceremony is the world famous Ratha Yatra. On this day, thousands of devotees pull the three huge chariots carrying Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra through the grand road (Bada Danda) to the Gundicha Temple. The deities visit their aunt here.
The three deities enter the temple of their aunt on the next day and stay there for seven days.
On the fifth day, Goddess Lakshmi, wife of Lord Jagannath, comes in search of him to the Gundicha temple.
On finding his chariot there, she damages Jagannath’s chariot and returns back in anger.
After the week-long stay, the three deities return and the journey is known as Bahuda Yatra.
During the return journey, the chariot of Jagannath stops at the Ardhasani Temple (Mausa Ma temple). Here, Lord accepts his favorite rice cake known as Poda Pitha from his aunt who is the presiding deity of the temple.
The deities reach the Puri Jagannath Temple in the evening and wait outside for the day.
On the next day, the deities are attired in new costumes and this new form of the idols is known as ‘Suna Vesa.’
The following day, the deities move into the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and the Rath Yatra festival comes to an end.

Holashtak 2016 starts on 16th March

According to the lunar month (Chandra Maas), Purnima of Phagun Maas is celebrated as Holika festival.
Holashtak witnesses the arrival of Holi. Hola + Ashtak, means eight days before Holi. Basically, we can see that holi is a festival of nine days instead of a single day. On the day on Dhulendi with colors and Gulal, this festival comes to an end. All the nine days, nature has a festive and happy atmosphere. In the year 2016, the time between 16th March 2016 to 23th March 2016.

Holashtak stays from the Phagun Shukal Ashthami to Holika Dahan, that is, Purnima. In these days, the season start showing changes. Winters seem to say goodbye, with the arrival of spring. In addition, the coming of spring is indicated with the fragrance of flowers in the nature. It is believed that, Holashtak began when Lord Shiva got angry on Kaam dev and killed him.

Holika Dahan is the major ritual performed at the time of Holi which is also considered an important Holi Puja.
People light bonfires on the eve of Holi festival to celebrate the victory of 'good' over 'bad' which is called Holika Dahan. It can be performed at any place and its preparations begin almost 40 days before by gathering woods on important crossroads of the town.
On the night before Holi, effigies of Holika and Prahlad are placed on the huge heap of woods. The effigy of Holika is made of combustible material and that of Prahlad is made of non-combustible material and upon setting them alight, people chant Rakshoghna Mantras of the Rig Veda to cast away the evil spirits.
The left over ashes are collected by people next morning and are smeared on the limbs of the body as Holi Prasad which is an act of purification.

This is a special day when the Vastu related issues of your home, factory and work place can be effectively taken care off. Just bring some ash from the bonfire you had lit on the day prior to Holy. Offer this ash along with some colour in the Ishaan corner of your home, factory or work place and see that you have taken care of the Vastu Dosha just for nothing.

Make a point to visit everyone in your locality and especially the ones with whom you do not get along well. By just putting the right colour on the forehead on the person you could transform the old enmity what you had.

Offer your respect to all the elders you meet this day. Ill placed Jupiter shall feel elated in your horoscope.

Throwing pranks and showering anyone with abuses may do no good to the planet mercury in your horoscope. Avoid this, be gracious and throw pranks only in your friend circle.

Try to use that colour powder (Gulal) which suits you astrologically. You may be coloured by people by different Gulals but you apply the Gulal to people with is most appropriate to you.

March 7th - The Night of Hindu God Shiva – Mahashivratri 2016

Shivratri, or Mahashivratri, is the most auspicious day dedicated to Lord Shiva.
In 2016, the date of Shivratri is March 7.
In 2016, Shivratri is doubly auspicious as it is falling on Monday or Somvar (March 7). Monday is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Planetary Position on Shivaratri Night
It is believed that the planetary positions align in such a way on Shivratri night that it naturally creates an upsurge of energy in the human system.
The planetary positions on the night of Mahashivratri are such that, in the northern hemisphere of the planet, a powerful upsurge of energy can be experienced by those who stay awake with their spines erect throughout the night. This is why, traditionally, one is advised to stay awake all night. Any spiritual sadhana performed on this night has a deeper impact on the system. Thus, people on the spiritual path make use of this extra assistance from nature to intensify their sadhana.

Shivratri and Amavasya (No Moon)
The significance of Shivratri is closely associated with ‘amavas’ - the no moon night or full dark night as per traditional Hindu Calendar.
Shivratri is celebrated to get rid of evil and ignorance.

Why did Lord Krishna visit Ayodhya on Sri Ramanavami? Why did the British Collector Rous Peter offer padukas to Goddess Meenakshi? How did Lord Krishna’s idol reach Udupi from Dwaraka? Who created Akasha Ganga atop Tirumala hills?

Total Solar Eclipse occurs on 9 March 2016 when Sun is conjunct with Moon in Aquarius aspected by Jupiter and Rahu in Leo. Both Moon and Sun will be on constellation of Poorvabhadra and Jupiter, Rahu in UttaraPhalguni constellation during this eclipse.

Solar Eclipses, especially in signs owned by Saturn, cause low blood pressures, anaemia, fatigue, disturbed relations in family, indigestion, nervous weakness. Also will lead to insomnia, disturbed mind for people born in ascendants and moon signs of Capricorn, Aquarius, Gemini, Cancer, Leo and Libra.

If you are born with Moon in Punarvasu, Visakha or Poorvashada constellations, Aquarius Ascendant, Aquarius Moon Sign or going through Vimsotari Dasa or Bukti of Jupiter, then March 2016 is the month to be cautious in every aspect of life.

Do not enter into new partnerships, relations, commitments. Try to maintain harmony in family and also at work.

With Sun and Moon along with Ketu already in Aquarius, Mercury and Venus will join during the solar eclipse time to create tough times for those born in that sign.

Except Saturn, all other planets are taking part in this havoc.

Only Virgo (Kanya) and Aries (Mesha) born will be able to survive this period without much trouble.

Mars Retrograde and Progression 2016

Mars becomes Retrograde On
April 17, 2016 (Sunday)
Mars becomes Progressive On

June 29, 2016 (Wednesday)

Before Mars becomes retrograde it enters into retrograde zone and starts slowing down. Before it becomes stationary and starts moving into backward direction, it keeps moving into forward direction with retarded speed.
Mars remains into stationary motion for some moments before it starts moving backward.
The same is true while Mars becomes progressive i.e. when it starts moving into forward direction. Before Mars becomes progressive it remains into retrograde zone and starts moving into forward direction till it gains full speed.

The retrograde period is inappropriate for activities requiring the normal flow of Mars initiative.
Mars retrograde probably isn’t the best time to begin a new exercise program, either. Again, the underlying meaning is that energy is lacking for external activity, so a program that begins under Mars retrograde may fizzle quickly.
When Mars is retrograde, it depletes the vitality so that it is never a time to initiate. Whoever initiates loses, a new project, a great love, an argument, a lawsuit, or an international war. With a new project, it will fizzle out and never really go anywhere. With a hot romance, it too fizzles and it rarely gets to the alter.
So it really is a very good time to find what it is you want with respect to Mars-related activity, even if waiting a bit.
Matters commenced while Mars is retrograde will be frustrated and plagued with disruptions until they finally fizzle out. At this time, people become irritated when activities do not run smoothly.
Mars-ruled types find themselves more inclined to sit back and review matters in a more detached or impersonal way. They feel more patient to wait on circumstances to unfold before they take action.

Mercury retrograde 2016

Mercury will be in retrograde until Jan. 25. It's a time of confusion and delays, but it's also a time for reflection.

What does Mercury in retrograde mean? Sometimes it appears as though planets are moving backwards through the zodiac, which is called “retrograde motion,” according to Almanac.com. Mercury does this three to four times a year. When this happens people can experience confusion, frustration and delay.

How do you handle Mercury in retrograde? Because of the negative effects Mercury in retrograde has, it’s best to be as laid back as possible.

Travel and automobiles: One of the things people can do to make commuting easier is allow for extra time to travel. It’s also considered a bad time to buy a new car or sign a lease.

Communication: Tradition says that there’s a lot of miscommunication when Mercury is in retrograde, so people should choose their words carefully. Try not to get frustrated if there is an issue understanding friends and family-- just blame Mercury!

Technology: One way to not be too affected by breakdowns is to anticipate that electronics might not work as planned. Double-check spelling in texts, emails and social media since people are normally accident-prone during this time.

Contracts: Don’t sign any contracts. Instead, look over projects and plans during this time and wait until Mercury is out of retrograde to make final decisions.

Finding the positive: Mercury in retrograde is normally associated with negativity, but it can be a good time to reflect. Since it’s happening early in 2016, why not set goals for the new year?

Mercury will be in retrograde from Jan. 5-25.
April 28-May 22
Aug. 30 to Sept. 22 and
Dec. 19 to 31.
